This shouldn't be this hard but apparently it is, I still keep getting Wu's I haven't selected to get for some reason, below are my Albert Project Preferences. I only have 1 Venue which is the Default Venue & all Computers are set to that Venue, thr Wu'ds Ikeep getting are the >>> Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended): no which I clearly have Deselected

Wrong Wu's being sent once again ...
)
Unfortunately, Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended) is the reason this project exists: the people who sign the cheques (checks?) expect this work to be done.
As it says very clearly on the front page of the Albert project,
It also used to say, in big friendly letters, "Don't expect anything to work here".
Is that so hard? Just fasten your safety strap and come along for the ride.
I didn't want to spam the boards with my stats - just milestone theads - but apparently signatures are no longer optional. Follow the link if you're interested.

Always the Attitude, right Richard ...

It still does (top mid-right, did it used to be somewhere else?)

So then it's much like BOINC it's self, nothing much really works, or at least the way it should anyway ... lol

Well I think Steve has a
)
Well I think Steve has a point: If it is possible to deselect something then it should work. Otherwise it is confusing.
If the project don't want one to bail out of one search or another then the deselection should be disabled.

I agree it's worth pointing
)
I agree it's worth pointing out when something is not working even on an experimental site (assuming the site has asked for feedback). But it wouldn't suprise me - not would I be unhappy - if the answer is something like "yes, that doesn't work here but it should do on the live site" or even if there was never an answer.
Or just maybe the answer comes back "wow, thanks for spotting that - good thing it was seen before the code made it to the live site" - which is actually nice, because it feels like you've made a useful contribution.
So I don't expect this site to necessarily work, and if something seems broken I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be fixed.
Anyway, with a bit of luck, one of the project devs will drop by and answer Steve's question.
I had this same Problem a few
)
I had this same Problem a few weeks ago here & at the Einstein Site so things don't work there either. About all I got was it's all my fault for not selecting the right Wu's when I know what I wanted but just couldn't get it, always got something I didn't want.
Somehow though I got the Wu's I wanted from Albert:Binary Radio Pulsar Search: yes
Then for 2 weeks while I was crunching on them I didn't get any, then all of a sudden yesterday I started getting Wu's I didn't want again. If something can be set or selected then it should work IMO but I've been around BOINC long enough to know that's not always the case.
I'm just reporting it in hopes it can be fixed & can get a little testy when confronted with a Deal with it ot live with it response, but then that's about all you get out of some supposedly helpful participants ... ;P

The application selection is
)
The application selection is a pretty difficult thing to get right, especially in what we call "mixed scheduling" - using two different schedulers for two different types of work, each of which was written with the idea of being the only one on the project (Two popes meeting ...).
Indeed this does work on Einstein probably even worse than here on Albert. O certainly need to take another look at this when I find the time (currently sick@home).
On Albert I hope to test a new version of the server code hopefully next week, I sure hope that things get better then.
I'll try to allocate some time to look into this on Einstein, too, but currently can't promise anything.
Thank you for your patience.

Thanks Bernd, I did get more
)
Thanks Bernd, I did get more of the Work I wanted by trying different settings found one that worked for me. But if I change it remembering the setting for a particular type Wu might be hard.
A lot of people are getting really involved in the WUProp Project & their Unique Badge & on how to get the Higher levels of Stars they give out. So being able to pick different App's is critical in the Badge Process at WUProp or you just end up running the same App over & over when you don't want too run those App's at the moment ... Thanks

I thought Ste\/e's post would
)
I thought Ste\/e's post would stimulate someone to do something against this problem. But nothing was done since 6 month! Nothing what i can see.
Every other project is able to let the user pre-elect what type of app he wants to run. And then the project sends out only the WUs for the elected app.
Why it is so hard for Albert@home to do so?
