I haven't had the high CPU usage problem since the 11.11 drivers. I even put in a whole new videocard yesterday, so the drivers for it are installed clean. Using the 11.12 Catalysts here. Your app is using 1% CPU cycles every so many seconds.
Ok, there's a very weird thing going on here.
When I run work on my HD6850, and do not touch BOINC, don't suspend it or worse, exit it and later restart it, then most all tasks will run and finish in between 5,000 and 6,400 seconds.
Do I suspend BOINC and resume it, or exit it and restart it, then work will become very slow and sluggish, running for multiple hours, up to 20K seconds.
Before the GPU load will be sustained at around 70%, all the way through.
After the GPU load is sporadic, coming and going but mostly zero. I tried suspending and then resumed....
I don't get the slow and sluggish thing...
I run boinc 7.0.3
I also have marked "Leave task in memory while suspended".
So tasks can resume without being read to memory when resumed.
Ok! Second one validated both against NVIDA. Here is what i have done. Went to AMD site and got their under development OpenCL and APP SDK installed those two and now i dont know where my Catlyst Control Center has gone to? Any way now getting valid units at Albert and Poem.

I use 11.12 Catalyst suite and I have a working Control Center and the APP for OpenCl that is included with the driver.
I don't need to install the separate SDK to run POEM and Albert or SETI OpenCl.

Nice, the friends at SETI also noticed corrupt results seemingly caused by certain driver/SDK combinations. Maybe AMD finally fixed/improved their software. I'll try to build a new set of apps using the latest SDK for the latest drivers ASAP.

Any chance that the new apps will work on 4xxx ATI cards??
Well, we haven't clearly identified a 4xxx specific problem so far. We're still investigating the overall numerical accuracy/correctness of our OpenCL apps in general though. Given AMD's driver quality that's no trivial, straight-forward task unfortunately.

I am running 7.0.7, 12.1, XP64, C2Q, 5870, and the task is still consuming a about 40% of a CPU core.
Edit: Some more info. When I reserve a core, GPU load is ~60%. When I do not reserve a core, GPU load drops to ~0%.
Edit 2: Same behavior with 7.0.7, 12.1, Win7 64, i7 920, dual 5870s.
