For if you help with something, my first attempt was to create a team for all projects through BOINCstats / BAM apparently created in almost every project. Later I discovered and I registered BOINC-wide teams (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams/).

Good catch! These access paths haven't been on our radar so far - duh! Added a bug report to take of 'em...

Thanks,
Oliver

When updating Albert@Home, the name of my team in the BOINC Manager ('AMD Users') changed into the slightly less romantic '17123'.Yell

Hi Dirk,I checked the

Hi Dirk,

I checked the database and the team record is just fine. It appears as if the BOINC Manager simply picked the wrong column to display the team name. I'd file a bug report with BOINC if the problem persists...

it shouldn't be as hard as it is but with some of these off the wall forum software being used at some Projects it makes it difficult for new users to figure things out

The theme we're using is custom made and deliberately designed the way it is. Whether things are considered "difficult" or not is always subjective. A newbie might find it intuitive while volunteers knowing the old website inside-out might be confused at first. We chose to place the team features in the community section because in a our opinion it's a natural fit. You may also just use the prominent global search field or click on someone else's profile. In addition to that you can access your team from the account dashboard.

HTH,
Oliver

Yeah well when BOINC comes to it's inglorious end because of lack of users maybe the Closing Counsels Discussion will include the fact that many New BOINC Users just gave up on BOINC because of all the different BOINC Project Forums presented to them to try to figure out. If I an experienced BOINC User find it hard to do some thing in a Forum then new users must find it equally if not more difficult to do anything themselves ... IMO

I take that "Closing Counsels

I take that "Closing Counsels Discussion" doesn't target E@H since we personally invited our key volunteers (read: top 100 active community participants) to participate in a public beta test here on albert, even before we migrated to Drupal. So, while we came up with a new design that was created in the background we're always open to discussion - as you should see. However, it's also pretty clear that we can't please everyone. We made a deliberate decision to come up with a custom design because we found the original one neither beautiful nor particularly accessible - that was our primary motivation to redesign the website in the first place. So keeping our website in visual sync with other projects hasn't been our primary goal. BOINC is a means for our project, not an end. That said, we developed the Drupal-based site in a way such that it can easily be adopted by other projects as well, and there's already interest in that...

As I wrote earlier, I beg to differ in this regard.

The problem only takes place with Albert@Home, so it's not the BOINC manager which is at fault.

Your team table does not connect to your users' table anymore (which is why othert users can't join their team too).

Yes I have just noticed this this morning, you may be 17123 (instead of AMD Users) but now I am 118140 (instead of Cobar Spiders).

No other projects are affected (except QMC which just doesn't show a team at all).

Would a reset correct the problem?

I've no idea where you got that technical insight but your user record as well as your team record are just fine. As I said, I checked it. Also, if that would have been the case your team association on this website would have been broken as well - it wasn't.

Anyhow, I presume the BOINC DB layer design is the culprit here Yell
Please update the project in the BOINC manager and see if it's fixed now.
