I'm currently working as a firefighter in the middle of Sweden.
I've been curious about computers and how they work ever since my parents brought home the first PC back in the mid 90's.
My interest in physics started in elementary school but really took off in high school when my teacher gave me the following rating: "Most students can do the maths in physics if you give them the equations but they have no clue to what meaning is, you on the other hand can't do the maths but you seem to grasp what it's all about". Then when I started to read the "Science" section of the message board I realised that I've still got plenty to learn and I do look forward to doing it! =)
It's a special feeling to be able as a volunteer and home user to help and contribute to cutting edge science. We've already discovered multiple new pulsars and I really do hope that we as a community will discover the first gravitational wave and thus confirm Einsteins predictions.
It's quite mind boggling that a simple home user can be a part of new scientific discoveries!
This is a truly well maintained project with both active scientists and volunteers, one can learn much by reading and/or participating in the message boards.
