Topic 84885

We just released some BRP4 1.30 app versions. These are based on the same code basis as the v1.28 versions, but are compiled for 64 bit platforms.

The app versions support the following platforms

- CPU, 64 bit, for Windows,
- NVIDIA CUDA , 64 bit, Linux
- OpenCL (ATI/AMD), 64 bit, Linux.

Requirements & known limitations

The OpenCL versions require BOINC 7.0.25 or later, but we encourage volunteers to actually use the latest recommended BOINC versions, currently 7.0.28 or 7.0.31.
The Linux 64 bit v1.30 app versions come without a graphics-app ("screensaver"). (We do not recommend to run the graphics anyway for GPU apps)

Cheers

[New release] BRP app v1.30 (new 64bit versions)

Hi!

I crunched some BRP CPU WUs on my core i5-3450 @3.10 GHz (Win7, 64b). Here are the results:

- einsteinbinary_BRP4_1.30_windows_x86_64 - 21654 s (+/-324 s, N=14)
- einsteinbinary_BRP4_1.22_windows_intelx86__BRP4SSE - 26739 s (+/- 546 s, N=14)

I hope I'm not comparing apples and oranges, but it seems to be a ca. 19% improvement.

There were no problems during the crunching process, everything went smoothly.

Bye!
Luke

One of my Linux systems has completed 20 tasks last night with BRP4 version 1.30 CUDA 64-bit. All tasks completed successfully with a few tasks that have validated so far. Run time is very similar to the CUDA 32-bit application. I plan to try out the CPU version as well. Thanks for the updates!

Hello!

It looks like we've run out of samples to crunch. Now I get only resents.
There are also some serious problems with a few WUs, they all end with a "Validate error" http://albertathome.org/workunit/138296

Do you really think it is necessary to set the "max # of error" so high (20)?

Regards!
Luke
