- The search is a bit weird. Why do I have to put in a search word first and can I only sort by relevancy, name, etc. after it's come back with a search result? Now I have to search at least two times, and given that this may be a hit on the database, there's a chance that you're going to add a given waiting time between searches in the future (after some bots spent doing back-to-back searches that slowed everything down. Wouldn't be the first time). Can't I just have the search options, filter by location, by date, by relevancy at the start search screen?
Well, the search is meant to be easy and uncluttered. That's what made Google so successful in the first place! Sort by relevancy is enabled by default which should cover most cases. The facets offered on the results page are provided to allow to narrow down the search if it didn't return what you're looking for among the first results.
Background info: the search doesn't hit the database.
In which situation? IOW, when should it take you to the first unread post and from where?
If there are unread posts in a topic its "replies" count in the forum topic list is a link that takes you to the first unread post (at least it should).

I've been hitting the Albert test link because that is a bigger target to hit, as I'm posting from a mobile phone,
Other forums, like the Parallella forum, when you enter a thread you can hit a last unread post button.
Is it just me, or is the site incredibly slow now?
Seems absolutely fine to me (in Europe)...

Again, if there are new messages in a topic the "Replies" count in the topic list is a link that will take you to the first unread post in that topic. But yes, we're going to improve the visibility of this.

One annoying thing about looking at a thread is that it goes to the first post and first page of the thread,
And not the first unread post, there can be a bit of searching to find where you're up to.

We need to be precise here: did you click on the topic name or the topic reply count?

Yep, that's currently not implemented but I've already added that to a ticket since I also think that it would be a useful feature.
